Hello! I'm Five Year Internet Vending Veteran Ben Mannino.
I'm not a rocket scientist, and I'm far from being a millionaire. If you're looking for a rags to riches story, you wont find it here. I'm basically an average Joe with a very above average idea! I am guilty of being a hopeless entrepreneur. Nothing gets me
going like a great business idea. I've racked my brain for years trying to think of a business model that could produce accelerated income with little or no overhead. When the Internet began gaining in popularity I knew this was it.
It started out as a Goof! A friend and I decided to put a computer in a local cafe to allow the patrons to try out software for free. We thought it would be a good way to advertise our computer software business. The computer was such a hit, that we added a
second machine within a month. People asked if they could use the Internet on the machines, so we added some phone lines and a Dial-Up Account. Then things got really interesting...
Students were cutting school to use the PCs! The local high school principal called the cafe to ask what the big attraction was all about! After a short discussion with the owners, it was evident that Free Internet Access was not the best approach.
So we decided to hook up a dollar bill acceptor to each machine and charge $1.00 for 20 minutes. We installed a special software package to control the time and billing for each machine.
What I found 3 days later took my breath away! To this day, I never expected to find more than a few dollars in each dollar bill box. There was over 100 dollar bills between the two terminals! I was so ecstatic that I snapped a picture (to the stares of
a few patrons :)
It was jammed up to the point that it couldn't take any more bills! We paid the location their percentage and danced out of the cafe with a perma-grin that has not faded.
Five years later, I haven't lost an ounce of enthusiasm for this business. Why? Because it's a beautiful business! I spend 1 day preparing a terminal and earn a revenue stream 365 days after that! The machines do the work, not me. Today, I
manage over 100 terminals in hotels across the United States from New York City to Anchorage, Alaska. Each day, the terminals email their financial reports and most of the transactions are processed automatically using credit cards!
